    Default shift lever question

Help!!! My suburban is a 99 5.7l 2500. Can anyone enlighten me on whether I'm having a shift lever problem or is it is just the way it is because I cannot select first gear on the lever. Is my transmission busted or is it just the lever?

Look at the linkage under the truck. Something may have come loose. Next disconnect the linkage and see if the transmission shifts into low. If it does your problem is in the linkage. If not you will need to drop the pan.
