    Question Mass Air Flow

First the specifics...2002 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 Crew, 8.1 with the Allison tranny.

Was towing a camp trailer through the Colorado mountains and had the check-engine light come on. Had the code scanned (P0101) which indicates a Mass Air Flow Sensor problem. My gas mileage dropped significantly (not that it was that great to begin with, but from 11mpg to 6.25 mpg). The shop didn't have time to do any work on it, and I've not had time to spend tinkering with it. Any suggestions on a way to address this type issue? Thanks in advance for any help.

Try cleaning it with MAF cleaner. A scanner would reveal is it's indeed functioning. It's either dirty or you may need to replace it.
