While looking for a truck, I drive a 99 4x4 chevy 1500 shortbed and ended up buying a 1991 4x4 chevy 1500 shortbed. Other than the 99 feeling lighter and the 4.8 having more power than my pathetic 305, I noticed the 99 seemed to turn on a dime and while my 91 doesn't turn bad, it doesn't feel as sharp as the 99 was. Is this in my imagination or does the 99 turn better? Anyone have the turning radii of both trucks? If the 99 does turn out to be better and I swap in a 99+ steering box, will that make it turn like a 99?

Ok, then anyone know how many degrees the tires turn on ANY 1991 pickup, suburban, etc compared to a 99+?
Well I'm not 100% sure about this but I am pretty certin that the difference between your 91 front end and the 99 are worlds apart. They completely redidthe front suspension on the 99 and changing the steering box is not an option (I 'm pretty sure of this) all the steering componets are different the upper and lower control arms the tie rods the shooting match. I had a 93 Xtended cab and then went to an 00 regular cab I know the wheel base made a huge difference but now I have an 07 quad cab and it turns WAYYYYY better than that 93. Like I said just about all (if not all) the steering componets where changed and thats why you have a better turning radius.
BTW,
From what I have noticed they only changed the steering on the 1500's (non-HD) models because this 06 2500HD we have here at work needs an entire run way to turn around.
