    Default Gearing Question for 33's

Not for sure if this is the right spot for this question or not but here goes...

Looking to purchase a new Silverado/Sierra in the near future and I have come up with 2 possibilities:

    1) 4.5" 2wd lift from Zone Offroad running 305/60-18 Nitto Terra Grapplers, Moto Metal 18x9 4.5" BS
    2) 6.5" 2wd lift from Zone Offroad running 325/60-18 Nitto Terra Grapplers, Moto Metal 18x9 4.5" BS

So here's my question...can I and should I run the 3.73's that come in the truck with both wheel/tire combinations? I want a nice, aggresive stance for the truck without having to worry about a gear swap and other things. The 305's come out to 32.4 inches by 12 inches and the 325's are like 33.4 inches by 12.8 inces...Thanks for the help!

Ask your self this how much gear do you need vs. how many miles do you drive mpg..... any way the 3.73 will be fine for both tires and i think 4.11 would be overkill if you p/p more than you go pitch dirt 35"s are a better 4.11 gear and it would'nt be worth the money to find a 3.90 gear to meet in the middle

Stock 3.73s to a 4.11 would be a stupid change and a waste of money. Personally, with 33s, I'd use 3.73s if you are doing mostly highway driving. If you go with 35s, I'd suggest 4.56 or 4.88s, that way you'd still get good performance out of your OD gear, which is EXTREMELY TALL in the 4L60E.

never go higherr than a 4.56 gear in a ten bolt housing the pinion gets weak from being so small

We can talk about this to death....this horse has been beaten. What boggles my mind is why you CAN put 5.56 into the 10-bolt if the pinion is so small with 4.88 and 5.13s....

you can put 7.17 in a ten bolt if ya wnt but bolt up some 44"s and see how long it lasts. do your research and learn from others mistakes! and i wasn't beating a dead horse just correcting a jackass

    Cool gearing question for 33s

I agree with AZDRTDOG. Anything more than 4.56s in a 10bolt is just to weak .
