1996 k1500 4l60e shift cable

at 190,00 lost reverse and first installed reman trans evrything bolted up fien cannot find any adjustment on shifter cable i can adjust nuetral start switch and the motor will crank but the cable is approx 3/4 of an inch to long any thoughts would be appriciated ive done gm repairs my entire life firrst experience with a 4l60e though

Make sure you use the original shift linkage that bolts to the transmission as there are more than one and they look the same. Follow the directions on the link that was posted and you should be able to adjust it. Did the reman look exactly the same as the old transmission?

turned out somebody had put aftermarket cable with no adjustment in cable new delco cable and adjust easily the real kicjker is installed everything checked fluids fired my truck up and the trans pump let go everybody told me never trust a reman but ive had good luck untill now

You may not have indexed the torque converter all the way into the pump. Did the converter turn easily before you bolted it up? Sorry to hear you have to pull it back out. This is the main pitfall of buying a reman. Many reman companies will have yo take it to a local shop for repair if the failure is their fault.

Happens to the best of us. I remember an episode of Monster Garage where they were in Iraq for a Humvee project, and they forgot to fill the converter before installing it and ruined the tranny and put a wet blanket on the project.

I hope your not soured on tackling tough projects like trans swaps.
