    Default Replacing Factor Carpetting

I bought a '94 Silverado a few weeks back and before I purchased it, it was a company truck for a local HVAC company so you can imagine what the interior would look like. Coffee stains, some grease stains, etc. Has anybody ever attempted to change out the carpetting in their vehicle before? If so, what kind of problems did you run into and would you suggest getting it professionally installed or is it a pretty easy DIY project?

Not a hard project at all. And being this is a new to you truck this mod will give you a chance to thoroughly clean the interior of the truck which it sounds like might be needed.

You'll need the correct set of wrench's to remove the seats and center console (if it has one) and remove the sill plates and possibly some kick panels.
Usually replacement carpets are slotted for the seat belt bolts so you shouldnt have to mess with those. You'll need to apply lots of elbow grease and some cleaning compounds to the bare floor pans after removing the seats and old carpet, maybe a little sanding and primer if theres any corrosion, then install the new carpet.
If the the new carpet doesnt include new padding think about buying some, the old padding is usually pretty smelly and not very washable.
Also when replacing the carpet leave the new carpet kit out in the sun while removing the interior, this helps the carpet get more pliable from the heat and it'll fit better.
This would also be a good time to steam clean the seats while their out of the truck.

The whole project will take an afternoon.

I was getting ready to order new carpet for one of my cars. I pulled it all out and got a cleaning tip that I will pass on now. I used gloves and magic purple cleaner/degreaser and a stiff brush. I did mention gloves? I only started using the gloves 1/2 way into the first piece. You won't be that foolish and will use gloves from the outset. Scrub it down iwth your gloved hands then let is soak for a bit. Pressure wash the purple cleaner off and shop vac/sun dry it and marvel at your "new" carpet!

LMCtruck, stylinconcpets, or JCwhitney, they all have premolded carpet for your truck, pretty easy too. Just take your time.

I was looking at LMCTruck and stylintrucks.com. It looks like they have some pretty good carpetting including pre-molded carpets. Thanks for the advice.

    Default 1997 Carpet

I have a Chevy Work Truck with rubber carpeting in it and wanted to replace it with formed carpeting. It's an easy task and I was able to find plenty of vendors with cut pile carpeting molded to fit nearly every model. Prices were around 100 to 130 dollars. It's an easy install after you take your seats out.

Like every one said, piece of cake my man. And like someone else said, if you use any cleaner, wear gloves. I bought some used tools and decided to clean them with Purple Power. I made a big mistake of not wearing any gloves. I burnt holes into my skin in multiple places. It sucked.
