    If you are gonna use your stock head unit, that doesnt have good enough power nor does it have the audio settings to get the moneys worth from them, Sony car audio is crap across the board, you asked about boston acoustics. for my money they are the best, i have been in mobil audio for many years and have a couple friends that own their own business and have listened to many and for B.A. it doesnt get much better.

    i forgot to mention that i wasn't running my stock head unit, i have the alpine component system hooked up to an alpine head unit. i recommend keeping all the same brands, but i know budgets can alter your capabilities in doing so lol
    2000 silverado with a 5.3l v8, shorty headers, upgraded plugs, 10 mil wires, magnaflow high flow cats, flowmaster 80 series muffler(2 in 2 out) w/ 18 inch stainless silverline tips. i have a k&n CIA. its a 4x4 z71 offroad package. Ls model.
    extended cab 160k miles, truxedo low profile bed cover, diablo sport predator tuner.
    reman tranny @ 130k miles

    the guy at the audio shop said that if i was just using the factory head to not have to worry about using an amp. so i decided to buy some kicker comp speaker and coax speakers online. and have them install them for $20 per speaker. i would be spending about 80 for the coax and about 150 for the comp so i save quite a bit.

    thats about what i bought my alpine component speakers for at best buy, but i had a friend get them for me b/c he had his big christmas discount.
