thats what it said in a nut shell

now my question is has anyone noticed a difference in gas mileage after they took it off?
cuz it could either help or hurt the mileage

    help by having less drag
    or
hurt by letting more air pass thru under the truck

    sorry its alot....
i didn't notice a difference, im pulling 18 mpg in town

Welp I took the yellow piece off today. All there is holding it on is two bolts (needed pliers to hold the metal clip on one side to keep it from tearing the plastic piece) and a bunch of clips. The truck looks much better now!

    Default Plastic air dam

Actually, the plastic piece serves a purpose. I read an article about Chevy's attempts to improve gas mileage and the little plastic piece is said to improve mileage by a small but measurable amount. Likewise, the plastic "spoiler" strip on top of the tailgate improved gas mileage by 1 MPG! But, you're right...it is ugly. I haven't seen a pic with it painted body color, but your's is black anyway...so it wouldn't matter painted or not! Nice truck!

oh thanks 5speedsilverado. i might try this sometime when i get the time to see how it looks. the only thing with my truck it has the step bumper on the sides and they are just as low as the plastic piece.
