I have been debating on how to upgrade my exhaust on my 97 c1500 5.7L for some time now. I think I am just going to buy a flowmaster 40, and a little turn down tip to put right off the end of the muffler.
How much resonance would this cause to be in the cab?
You will definantly get some cab noise, my dad just did headers back to flowmaster 40's with turn downs on his 86 gmc. It is a whole lot louder than stock but that is what he was after. I personally like the cab noise but it may be to much for you. IMO

I have heard that if you dump your exhaust, and sit idling in your truck, the exhaust fumes could get into the cab. Is this true? What are other bad things about dumping your exhaust?
i've got the exact same set up, flowmaster 40 series dumped, but with one in dual out. the guy that did it for said for me to get a dual out muffler cause its louder. i dunno how much truth is behind that tho. makes sence. but i like mine, once it broke in it sounded good.
check it out. sorry not such good quality for the mic. but this was like 2 days after i got it done
