97 305 needs new heads

and i am ready for a significant power increase. should i upgrade motor to a 350 vortec, or just get new performance heads and keep the 5 liter? ive been pricing and comp cam proaction heads are about the same as a used vortec 350. any suggestions?

If I am remembering correctly, if you go to 350 heads, you will lose power. I think that the combustion chambers in the heads are larger in the 350 heads vs the 305 heads. I know an old hot rod trick was putting 305 heads on a 350 to increase the compression ratio. I think the compression ratio will drop if you put 350 heads on a 305, vortec or not.

hmmm thanks. im thinking about the comp cams heads i think they would give the best results from what ive heard so far.
