Default best tire for street use and light trails ?

sorry to start a tire thread, I promise I wont start an oil one..
right now I have 265 on 16 rim, i'm keeping the rim, but want to know if a 275 or even a 31" will fit and ride well.

I beleive that a 265 is a 31 inch tire. BFG KO's are a nice street and trail tire.

a 265 is a 31", it wouldn't be worth trying to find a 275, if you can't tuck the 33" (285) I'd stick with the 31's if you aren't sure, they're plenty big, I'm running goodyear workhorse at's right now and I love them, they go through most stuff in two wheel drive, with the help of a posi, and not a lot of road noise either, I'm ugrading to 33" nitto terra grapplers in the next month or so, keep in touch and if you haven't bought any yet I'll let you know how those are.

i didn't know that... I had some big O tire a/t ( I think) on the discovery and they were real nice on the street and real good off road . I put on some 31 on the wrangler but also put a 2" lift at the same time.
33 ! you're going to lift your truck ? how much lift ?

I'm putting the tires on in the next month, and I've been told from several people that they will tuck on my truck, but I plan on putting a small 2 or 3 inch body lift on next summer, and if I get the tires and they don't tuck, guess I need the body lift sooner

I'm running 285 Nitto Terra Grapplers on my yukon and I love them. Discount Tire said that they don't have a mileage warranty because they are an all terrain tire so if you go that route make sure you rotate them often. I do mine when I change my oil (a little OCD) and as of today I've got almost 45,xxx out of them. Went to discount last week for a trailer tire and had the manager look at my nitto's, he said if I keep rotating them like I am he wouldn't be suprised to see another 30,000 out of them. Like I said I love them and they will be my first and only choice once I need tires again!!

that's awesome, my only concern was some bad reviews about the mileage, that was very helpful, I'm ordering them from discounttire.com as well, did you put them on before the body lift? I've been told they'll tuck without problems.

Hard to beat the BFG ATs for a daily driver. I have 31/10.50/16.5 on my 2500. Fit fine, I think I could go to 32s next time with no problems.
