I am not sure how these numbers are counted by whoever states them?
But, I guess GVW would be the 17,500# to include the 10,980 or 6520.
The 30k GVCW would include all of that plus the trailer and what it has on it.
So, with an empty truck, the 5th wheel rigging (or whatever type hitch) and the trailer/contents connected to it, could weigh 30,000 minus 10,980 or about 19k?

I may be wrong. but the way I understand it, if the combined Gross weight exceeds 26,000 a CDL is needed?

I have heard that requirement does not apply to personal use, but I doubt if I will ever get into that wieght anyhow.

I even reduced the 2.5 inch Reese insert box to use a standard 2 inch insert. That will work for anything I pull.
