    Question What type engine?

    How do I find out what type engine I have? I have the 99 Silverado 5.3 but when looking up parts online some places specify whether it is a LM7 engine or not......can I get it from the VIN? Thanks!

    On my 06 to find out which 5.3L I have it is digit # 6 or 8 that tells which variation. It is stated in the owners manual.
    2006 Chevy Silverado, 5.3L, Z71, Extended Cab. Tow Mule.
    2002 Chevy Corvette Z06, 5.7L, Slightly Modded. Tow Payload.
    2005 Craftsman Riding Mower, 17hp, light mods.

    In the Glove Box there are a series of Letters and Numbers these are RPO Codes.They will tell you what was put on your truck,The RPO Code for a 5.3 is LM7.
