Hi Everyone, Im new to here(2nd) post,
And Just bought my 1st chevy suburban, a 1995 1500 4x4 9 passenger Im pretty sure its the 5.7 Liter
the truck runs great tons of power, bought it to tow a boat. when I got it the a/c compressor was shot so we had it replaced and recharged runs great but i have no a/c in the back, of the car for the kids just blows hot air and i cant figure out why. I did a search here but didnt get any good posts on cause and remedies.
Diagrams would be great BTW or what is a common issue with these trucks? is this a common thing?
Please give me some feed back Thanks kevin

Welcome. You said you had the ac compressor replaced. Why didn't you have the rear air checked then or was it working fine after the compressor replacement?
alien4fish: We burb owners gotta stick together. I recommend you post most tech q's here unless you think it is better placed in one of the tech forums.

It's kind of long story found truck at dealer bought truck but for cheap wasn't readyfor salet yet the a/c had to work or I wouldn't buy it so they replaced the compressor and that was it they said they put 4 lbs in it but doenst the back blower have to be on when they charge it in the back? Is there a valve that opens?
first place to look is at the head of the compressor does it have two lines or four? if only two and the front unit works good you either have plugged line i.e. parts counter charge kit with stop leak in it or a bad rear evap if so i appoligize pulling that rear panel to acces it is a pain just did it in hte wifes 96 burboun if you have four lines at the head of the compressor the system probabley wasnt charged right because the rear unit must be switched on to take a charge if i remember correctly the two line set up takes three pound 134 the four line takes 4 pounds hope any of this helps be very gentle pulling the trim to access rear unit if you have to get to it
did they say why the compressor was bad? bad coil, siezed up ect.
when you access the rear lines and evap core feel the lines. hot/cold very cold or frosted over (that would indicate a restriction)
may have a blend door problem

I have the same issue and it is the expansion valve in the rear unit. It is the valve that keeps the rear coil from freezing. When the coil gets so cold, it closes and prevents the freon from flowing. It is a $30 part, but requires a discharge of the system to replace it.

im not sure if its two or four line system i can take a pic and post it , for the rear a/c where can I find the expansion valve ? Like I said the front gets nice and coldf they did a good charging it so do i need to to turn on that fan switch at the top of the head liner and add more 134a?
