    Default P0332 Knock Sensor

Well, my truck got this code yesterday when i was driving into the city to get those tires. I stopped off at PartSource and got the codes read, this code came up twice. Is there anything i can do to try and fix this myself? I'm assuming since i got this code twice, one was for #1 and the other was for #2, so do both of my knock sensors need to be replaced? Am i correct that if i replace them, i need to take off my intake manifold and all that to access them? And that the reason that they're giving the code is because water got to them? Is this a hard fix? I've never done this one before.

There's actually two of them, one in the front toward the front of the vehicle and one in the back towards the back of the vehicle, mine costed $70 a piece. And i also suggest getting a new gasket mine costed $90.

I wouldn't change them until I proved they were bad. Usually when a code sets especially multiple codes for several sensors it is not a bad sensor. The code sets when the sensors hear a knock. The PCM tries to fix the knock by retarding the timing. If the knock still persists then the hard code sets.

With that being said here are some things to check:

    Noisy belts.
    Noisy tensioner
    Noisy lifter
    Exhaust leak
    Any unusual noise under hood.
    Boom box stereo

I just did mine this weekend it took about 4hr.....If i was you i would replace both of them since there a pain to get to........I would also make a horseshoe around them with RTV Glue this will help keep out the water a little on the gaskets wont hurt either.........GOOD LUCK!!!

Hear is a good way to test the knock sensor before taking your engine apart...... Look for 2 wire's on the driver's side of your intake manifold each one goes to one of your knock sensor's they should be dark blue and light blue......Get a volt meter set it on A/C volts put one lead on your neg. battery post and the other to your knocksensor wire then Tap on your engine block with a wrench try to tap near the intake manifold you should get some kind of reading if not your sensor is bad........Hope This Helps!!!!
