    Default a/c question

    in a 99 tahoe , is the refrigerent 134 A ?
    where would the low pressure "valve" be to recharge the system ?

    in the engine compartment, I see 2 "valves"next to each other, one pointing up and one pointing toward the front of the truck.
    is the one pointing up IS the low pressure ?

    low side is on the driver side, the one pointing forward.

    DO NOT try to charge over the high pressure... unless you have a wife that you got good life insurance on....

    and yes, it's 134A

    ok thanks, I do not see any label inside the engine compartment which show the typre of refrigerent, so before I screw up, can somebody confirm it's 134a

    Not a problem, Tahoe and Suburban was changed from R12 to R134A in 1994 and the label should be on the fan shroud cover I think...

    i looked arround but didn't see anything, just the belt diagram. anyway, the ac shows 50 psi (in the overcharge zone) so I guess my problem is something else...

    Is the truck running when you are recharging the AC and is the fan on high with AC on?

    yep ! full speed fan ac on, and recycling air on, I check the gage to see how low it was gonna be, suprise....50 psi....grrrr...

    might also be too high pressure in the system, that has happened to me before.
    Does the compressor turn on at all?
