I have recently aquired a 1983 gmc sierra 4x4 with a 305 engine. The truck sat in Texas for 9 years and was only driven 19000 miles in those 9 years. It has 80,000 original miles on it. I have put a aluminum intake, edlebrock carb on it since I have gotten it. I was wondering what type of headers and exhaust i need to go with that is not to loud. I was setting my eyes on flowtek headers with 2.5 piping to flowmaster 40 series(true duals). Will this be too loud and do you all think that 3 inch pipinp from the collector to 3 inch 40 series flows will be louder? I want the 40 deltas or 50 deltas, but cannot afford them now...will wait till i put a 350 in it for that.
Thanks for all the help in advance...this site rocks![]()
After 3 Days and 24 views.....no one has answered any part of this question...
I will now say thanks to the ones that looked at this post and respectfully move on to another gmc forum as no one on this site wishes to respond. I would really like if a moderator would remove me from this site, Thanks...I will never log in to this site again.

From what I've seen the 40 series is not excessively loud and provides a smooth sound. And the 2.5 headers and 3 inch duals sounds like a goodl combo. As far as people viewing the post but not helping, you just have to be patient, eventually someone will see it that knows an answer. Everyone on here that views posts does not know the answer right away. This site is filled with great knowledge, is the best gm forum I have been to, and has helped me many times, it would be a mistake not coming back.

What do you consider loud? My dad's 86' GMC with a 350 has headers and 40 series flowmasters with dumps off the mufflers. I think it sounds great but that's my opinion. It is all going to be personal preference on the noise level. See if there are any car shows in your area, check one out and look for a truck similar to yours. If you see one setup kinda like your looking for ask the owner to fire it up and listen, see if it sounds like you want. Show guys are always looking to show off their rides. As for no one responding to your post, I would rather have no one respond then to have someone lie or guess about the answer. If you don't want to be a member that's your choice but your leaveing the best gm truck forum out there. We are all here to help, don't bail out!!
