i have a 2005 silverado 5.3L with 3.42 what would it take to switch to 4.10 and what would it cost to do this i would like to get the lower gears to help when pulling my boat and plowing

my truck is a 4x2 and i was quoted 1200 bucks which everyone agrees is too much, check around and you will get a good deal.

Check around but make sure the shop specializes in gear swaps. You will get a better deal and be sure it' s done correctly. Check the 4X4 shops as they are the ones that do a lot of swaps.

I have a 4x4 (so I had to have the gears swapped front and back) and I got them done at a 4x4 shop for $1600.00. They told me the rear was easy to do, but the front was difficult, so if you only have a 4x2 I would think no more than $800.00 if I had to guess.
