    Default newbie to the gm seen

    came up on a 99 [COLOR=#009600! important][COLOR=#009600! important]chevy[/COLOR][/COLOR] c3500 witha 5.7 for my cousin, changed the [COLOR=#009600! important][COLOR=#009600! important]intake [COLOR=#009600! important]manifold[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR] gasket due to a bad leak, changed the timing chain while I was at it once i got everything together, I got obd2 code p1345. Now ive rotated the dizzy trying to get rid of a rough idle and [COLOR=#009600! important][COLOR=#009600! important]ses[/COLOR][/COLOR] light, witch i still cant get rid of, moved the dizzy one tooth clock wise and one counter, but no succes. I've read a few post with poeple talking about scanning the [COLOR=#009600! important][COLOR=#009600! important]truck[/COLOR][/COLOR] for cam retard, now my question is what kind of scanner do I need?


    Few people also told me that I might be one tooth off on the chain, but when I rev the [COLOR=#009600! important][COLOR=#009600! important]motor[/COLOR][/COLOR], it revs smooth, and at idle the timing light is about 40 degrees retard. Ive also fliped timing 180, but truck wont even start, it just back fires. can anyone help?

    Set the crankshaft at #1 TDC by using the line on the balancer and line it up with a V on the timing cover. Look at the distributor, the rotor should be pointing at an "8" inside. If not, loosen the distributor and turn it until it does. Now clear the codes, restart and check the codes. If the ses comes back on, you may need a new gear on the bottom of the distributor, these things are soft and wear enough to turn the light on.

    Is there any way that I could check that gear with out having to buy a new one?

    Just doing a quick search the code comes back as a crank/cam position sensor.sounds about right for the areas u were in.If you lined up the dots on the gears then i will have to bet its int the cam position sensor AKA.(the dizzy) 40 DEGREES RETARDED sounds like about 32 to many go back get it to 8 btd.
