I'm looking to possibly replace my rear differential with a more solid unit. I'm no sure if my truck has the G80(?) or not. I have read the G80 is not as hearty of some after market units.
Any suggestions?

look in your glove compartment at the RPO codes thats where youll be able to see if it has a G80, If its there its not a bad unit by anymeans, itll do the good if your only a causal offroader,

What kind of driving do you do? If it's just on road with occasional dirt roads a Detroit Locker is an overkill. For mostly street driving an Eaton Auburn style Posi is all you need. On the other hand if you are into serious off roading then a Detroit Locker is great. There are many other options depending on how you drive your truck too. Air lockers, Electric lockers, Lunchbox lockers and True Tracks are other options as well.
