A friend has a 78 chevy Blazer 4x4 350 engine and 350 turbo tranmission. Here is the problem:
Driving down the road and acts like it is shifting into N. I let off the throttle and then step back on it and it works fine.
Another problem sometiems it will just down shift inot second from drive.

Check the fluid level first. Then make sure the kick down cable is adjusted properly. If the cable is adjusted too tight it will cause this kind of problem. If you're not sure disconnect it as a test.
Next pull the line off the modulator with the engine off and check it for leakage. If it has oil in the vacuum line change the modulator. If it's dry check the vacuum at idle. You should have at least 18" at idle.
