    Question Changing brake pad question

First off, great forum, everyone. I am getting ready to put rear brake pads on my '03 Silverado Ext. cab Z71. The Chilton manual says to open the bleed valves when compressing the pistons on ABS models. Is this in addition to removing fluid from the resevoir? I'd rather not fool with the bleed valves if possible. How do ya'll do pad changes on ABS models? Any help is appreciated.

The ABS system has check valves and accumulators between the rear pads and master. Follow the instructions in the manual. You will lose a little fluid but it's no big deal and you can add the fluid you lost to the master after you apply the brakes a few times.

they say not too because your pushing contaminated fluid back into the system. barly crack the valve on the caliper so when you push the pistin in fluid will seap out. may have to do a quick bleed but as long as its barely cracked you shouldnt get air in the system
