Hi, Newbe to owning a suburban. I have a 1998 K1500 Suburban with 5.7 L engine and 4L60E transmission. I have always driven Jeeps. Purchased a 2000 Palomino pop up camper and decided that the Jeep Cherokee was not big enough to haul all of camping gear. I love how the Suburban pulls the camper.
Now we are thinking of upgrading to a bigger camper. Question, how big of a camper can I pull with the Suburban? Would like to keep the weight to or below 4000 lbs.

Default Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

First off, welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

A half ton Suburban should be good for a 5000# trailer, especially with a quality sway control/weight distribution hitch system.

Thanks for the info. I love the Suburban and how much room it has. Our Palomino camper only weighs about 2000 lbs. Suburban has no problem towing it. Have driven my 1999 Jeep Cherokee for about 9 years now. Glad to own a Chevrolet again. My first car in High School was a 1980 Chevrolet Malibu.
