I have a 1998 Suburban with 5.7 vortec. I bought it last month and the previous owner had replaced the intake manifold gasket August of 2008. I noticed that it still has dexcool in the cooling system. I have been reading bad things about dexcool. Should I flush tthe system and replace with G05 or universal antifreeze? I always thought dexcool was pretty good stuff.

Well, you won't find any Death Cool in my vehicles. DC is organic, and therefore begins to breakdown after a couple of years.
Here's some reading

When you hear hoofbeats, look for horses not zebras.
GET RID OF THE DEX COOL!!! The first thing the mechanic told me after doing my intake gaskets is that he put regular antifreeze into my system so that no more "damage" would occur. I guess it reacts pretty badly with aluminum and slowly eats away at the parts. I found this out when the fittings for heater hoses on the intake completely crumbled in my hands when I was changing the hoses. I have since changed all of my vehicles over and even my dad's.
