    Angry Oilpan damage...

Well... this is more of a rant than anything, but dammit. On my way to a party last night, i hit a tire someone had blown and left on the road. Didn't see it, and it scared the crap out of me when it hit the bottom of the truck. Now, im leaving the party and stop to look at the damage in the daylight this morning - and my oilpan is covered with oil, and none of it is on the sides of the pan - only the bottom.

my gm service manual shows that i should be able to change it myself - if i had the time. if i did it that way and bought a used oil pan, it would be a fairly inexpensive fix. otherwise, the labor costs wont be friendly along with a $250 oil pan.

    And the update is ths:
the tire hit my oilpan, putting a 1.5" crack in the bottom of it,
then hit the bar from the fram across on the passenger side, denting it to match the driver side,
then hit my crappy stock muffler, denting it a few times,
then hit my axle between the differential and shock, doing no damage,
before flying up behind the truck.

Tearing up your oil pan sucks at least it didn't catch on any wires or lines and tear up anymore things.

true. it could have been a lot worse - and at least i noticed it before it emptied and wrecked something. It sucks that its a long weekend though because i cant get it fixed now until tuesday, and i wont be able to drive myself to school for as long as it is in the shop.
