Even though it came with the built in brake controller, under the dash of my 2009 2500 HD there are terminated wires which appear labeled for a brake controller. There is a poorly readable tag on there that seems to correspond with the book:
Blue-Aux Brake
Red/Black Batt
White/Ground
Light Blue-White/Brake Switch
Orange is there, but not listed in the book, the label says CHMSL ?????
I don't understand why these wires don't go to the built in brake controller, and what is on the other end of them? Did they run an additional set of wires to the trailer connector from the built in brake controller? It DOES have wires attached.....) I guess they left you an option to put in another brake controller and that the wires meet up before they go to the back bumper??
Aside from that, I'm wondering if I could use the BATT wire to power a small woofer. (It calls for a 10A fuse.......)The wire looks like it's 12g or close thereto, certainly no thinner than the wire attached to the wiring harness for the woofer.......... Problem is I plan on trailering so, at some point the trailer brakes and the woofer could end up on the same fuse, which if I read the book correctly is 30A.....
If this is all a bad idea and I must go to one of the batteries, where is the best place to get through the firewall?

unsure about the your wire question..im not sure as to why they did that..
on the other hand, if u decide to run a power wire to your sub..the best way is to run it from the engine compt. under the trk to the driver side floor..there is a grommet there under the carpet where the parking brake cable is run. i have most of my wires that run into my truck through that spot.
