Just bought an old 2 door in great shape... I have a couple of questions...
First, what is the largest tire/wheel combo I can put on the stock Tahoe? I believe they are 16 in wheels now... I don't want to put a lift on it, but may go up in wheel size to an 18 in... Im using it as a hunting vehicle to, so some off roading so to speak...
Second, Im going to replace the headlights/parking lights, etc. The old casings are just blah... I would like to be able to see at night as the dim lights currently just don't get it done, and the brights aren't much better... Any recommendations as far as the lights go?
thanks for your time...

285/75/16 (32.8in)will fit with no problems, as for headlights, you can find a ton of replacements and black cases on ebay pretty cheap. Welcome to the site!!

D.A. question... what if i go up to an 18 in wheel?

Rule of thumb for upping rim size, if you want the same width tire (285 for instance) drop the sidewall ratio by 5 for each inch of rim you add. So 285/70/17, 285/65/18 is what you would be after.

Thanks... now gotta work on the headlights... i want to go with new housing and everything...
I talked a tire store last night... he told me the Tahoe will run a 295/75/16... so this means if i go up to an 18" wheel it will handle a 295/65/18 correct???
ALSO,
Do i need to be concerned with gears w/ the increase from a 265???

Yeah, I would stay with the 65 series for an 18" rim, as for the gears you should be just fine going from a 265, what you might want is to get a programmer of some kind to adjust the computer for the tire size increase to keep your miles and mpg correct

This is probably to little to late, but I just threw 285-75-R16 NItto terra grapplers on my tahoe, they don't even rub with the wheel cut all the way, the gears will be fine, mine's a stick and it runs great, one problem though the abs became very overactive on my truck.

nah, it's weird though, they get noticably worse after the new tires, like I"m talking 30mph on dry pavement, I start braking with 300 feet to go, and they're on pumping the brake the last 50 feet, they're screwed up. I'm gonna just unplug em all.
