i just bought a 97 tahoe 4x4 and was told that it wont pass smog. he gave me a list from the test only shop he went to that has the following codes and descriptions on it
p0134 - o2 sensor circuit no activity detected (bank1, sensor 1)
p0305 - cylinder 5 misfire detected
p0507 - idle control system RPM higher than expected
while its in park it idels a little above 2000rpm when driving it bogs under acceleration and sounds (to me) like its mis firing. does someone know how to fix this? what all the problems could be? any help is appreciated thanks

Well lets hope you got a deal on the truck. What is the overall condition of the truck? If the previous owner let all of these items go, what else has been neglected. When was the last tune up? How does the oil and trans fluid look? How many miles on the odometer?
Start with a basic tune up, cap, rotor, wires, plugs. If you do it yourself you'll save plenty. Check to see if the O2 sensor is connected to the harness. Otherwise its cheap enough to replace it yourself.
I'm a bit leery on the high idle. You could have a vacuum leak. Try spraying some water around the intake base and throttle body to see if the idle smooths out. Any place you spray the water and the idle smooths is leaking.
You didn't mention the results of the test CO or Nox levels. You may be needing a cat.
There is no way to happiness....happiness is the way.

Looking for a 1990's Miata for an engine swap
any chance you have the freeze frame data also failure records would be nice
fuel trims at idle and cruise
the truck is in real good condition body is nice and straight no major dents and the leather interior is nice and clean. it has 120k miles on it and i paid 2000 for it so i think its a pretty good deal. is there more than one o2 senso? i will probably just replace that too with the tune up if the parts not to expensive, its a simple plug and play type fix right? if it is a vacuum leak how do you fix that? if its not what else do you think it would be? thanks
Whenever you get multiple codes like that you have to decide what the primary code is and go after that problem first. In this case you have a misfire code. A misfire will set multiple codes including an O2 code. The PCM is stupid and thinks the O2 sensor is bad because it can not rationalize like a human brain. So fix the misfire first. You may be surprised to find the other codes disappear. <G>

I merged the threads for you to make it a little easier to follow.
It sounds to me like you need an O2 sensor, a tune up and a throttle body cleaning at the very least
