hey again i was wondering im about to start lfiitng up my suburban and i was wondering if 1/2 ton axles would work since its a 3/4 ton and would a 305 motor be ok for it till i can get a 350 built thanks tyler
Why do you need new axles? And what is wrong with the current motor?
Tell us a little more about the truck.

If the current 3/4 ton axles are still useable I'd stick with them.
Lift + new (probably bigger tires) = axle breakage, especially on a vehicle as large as a Suburban.
The 305 would work as a temporary engine but I wouldnt expect a lto from it in a large, heavy Suburban.
I guess I dont understand why you want to down grade your Suburban. If it's because you have these parts laying around your time and money would be better spent getting the original drivetrain back in running order before you begin the lifting..

ok my suburban is independent suspension front end and i have the front and rear ends out of a k5 blazer that i no longer have so there sitting there and thats what i have not enough money to do a 3/4 ton front axle right now and im only gonna put 33's or do you think i should just sell somethigns i have and put a 3/4 ton front axle under it and im gonna put a 350 in it gotta take to the machine shop this weekend thanks tyler
its an 87 had the 454 efi in it
Any 4x4 Suburban up to 91 should have had a straight axle in the front and be leaf sprung. If that's the case, the lifting job is ridiculously easy and cheap.

Maybe his '87 is 2wd and he is wanting to do a 4wd conversion + a lift kit...? Just thinkin out loud since he said it was ifs.
