    Question 09 1500 Suburban Stalling

    Hello,
First post, We own an 09 sub with the varible running 5.3 and 2,700 miles on it in 3 months. It's sitting in the dealership on it's fourth stall (twice stopped in traffic, twice at 25 mph). Wife's been behind the wheel 3 times, me once. Whole thing shuts down. Wife is pretty frayed at the nerves as this is a co. car for us and we don't need the liability issues associated with being hit/sued to our co. due to this thing stalling.

I did a quick search and did'nt find any similar threads. I found one other person asking the same question on another site, no answers.

Have there been issues with the stalling due to the varible cylinder deal? I know the 70's cadilliacs had problems with this but, of course, much different system. The truck eventually restarts so I'm guessing not electrical.

In this last incident today, the truck had been running only 10 minutes after sitting 4 hours in 85 degree heat, other times it had been running anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes, never towing anything or loaded down.

Any info. or references are appreciated. Intial test drive from service manager today was that throttle seemed "heavy" compared to similar subs and that it was not as responsive as other ones with same power train.

Well if no one else chimes in with a solution.....perhaps you live in a State that has a Lemon Law to get you out of a sour situation.
There is no way to happiness....happiness is the way.

If this is a company vehicle they will have to push the lemon law as they hold the title and the warranty is in the companies name. Just keep taking it back to the dealership EVERY time.

    Thanks for info.!

I"m taking off to no. cal. right now to look at some equipment for the co.

I'll check the engine type when I get back, the dealer said they reprogrammed the computer and said that the problem was with having the a/c, other electronics on (all factory/oem) in hot climates and that the program the sub was shipped with to the dealer was'nt correct.

Putting 500 miles on it today , we'll see what happens.

I think you need hipwaiters for that one, that sounds like a load to me. If a truck was being shipped to a hot climate I think they would know that for christ sake they load them up and the dealer should verify that as well, not to mention why on earth would they have different set-up for different climates, that makes no sense. So what they are saying is that because I live in the upper midwest where it can get to -60 in the winter they are gonna program a setting that gives me not so cold ac, as compared to someone in Phoenix, thats a new line!!

Yea I think I gotta step up on the porch to keep the bull stuff off my shoe's from the dealerships explanation.
So this means when I buy a new Suburban I wont be able to visit parts of the country that dont have similar weather to where I bought the vehicle for fear of it having stalling issues?
They would have been better off to admit the truth and say "we dont know whats causing the issue".
This could be as simple as a bad ground connection or it could be a fault in the computer.
I'd notify them about now that I was looking into my options via the lemon law.
Liability issues aside if someone runs into you because it stalls in most cases they'll end up being at fault for following to close (unless you try to jump into traffic with insufficient space and it stalls).
