We're having some issues with my mom's 2001 Suburban's A/C, and I was wondering if you guys could shed some light on it.
When she had the A/C on and accelerated the belt would pop. So after replacing a bunch of components of the system like the compressor and such, it's "working" now. However, when the outside temperature is over about 90, the thing takes about 30 minutes to even start to feel cool, and even then it's not really cool. It doesn't even feel cold when you put your hand in front of the vents. If it's like 85 or less, the A/C will blow so cold it will almost freeze you out.
Now, my 2005 Trailblazer cools off fine (but it's newer), and my dad's 1997 GMC van cools off (but it's also a different vehicle). My mom's theory is since the truck's so big it just doesn't cool off, but I don't remember it being like this last summer or year's before that.
So, I want to know, you guys that have the same generation 'Burb and live where the weather's hot enough, how's your A/C work?

The vents should blow COLD air when the ac is on even in HOT weather. My burb blows 50 degree air even when the temps are above 100 deg. (The Mojave Desert does get warm)
I just had my work truck serviced. The compressor had grenaded and the orifice tube was clogged with chunks of debris from the compressor. After the compressor and related components were replaced 48 deg. air. So Cooooooool.
Get mom's burb into a reputable shop. If the compressor is gone, other components like the receiver/dryer will need to be replaced at the same time.
It cost $1100 to get mine working again.
There is no way to happiness....happiness is the way.

Yeah, that's the problem though: we just replaced all those components: compressor, orfice tube, and the receiver/dryer, and a few more.
But I do appreciate your response!
