    Default RPMs/clock???

I just noticed this today leaving the Vets. When I started the truck, everything was as it ususally is, except my RPMs during idel were around 400, which I'll come back to lator on. When I went to back out of my parking spot once I stopped rolling backwards, my RPMs dropped down to maybe 200 ~ 100, and I could hear the AC almost give out from lack of power. It would only stay that low for a second and would "bounce" between 100 and 400 a few times before leveling back out at 400. I just recently had my guage cluster replaced with a used one, (mine died) and when they replaced it the noticed that somebody had been in the dash before cause there were some hacked up wires. Since then my RPMs at idel always read at 400, is that ok, or should I be concerned? Also since then my factory radio clock when the truck sits for any period of time it will reset it self back to 12:00. I don't mutch care about the clock situation at the moment, and I'm not worried about the RPMs holding at 400 if there isn't anything wrong. But I am worried about the apparent almost dieing engine. Please help!

Sounds like a short in the dash. Clock resetting indicates loss of power to the clock. Could be causing trouble with the idle. Unless another member has had the same problem, you may have to resort to professional help. Troubleshooting electrical shorts of this nature is difficult. Let's hope someone will chime in with an answer to your questions.
