last tune up was about 55000 ago. i pulled the plugs and they dont look that bad. i also put new wires on it when i did the last tune up. everything else on the truck is original other than maintenance stuff. is their in way to test the coils?

Hook up your fuel pressure gauge and leave it on overnight. Check it in the morning. Truthfully, I don't know how much pressure you should have, but as soon as you put the key to on, it should instantly come up over 50.

That truck is ready for some love. Pull your throttle body and clean it and the Idle Air Control. Clean your MAF. A can of Seafoam in the tank and one through the intake. Air and fuel filters. Wix/Napa Gold are very good. Plugs and wires are probably OK, but if in doubt put in some fresh AC Delco gapped to .040" New wires ACD or Napa Premium. Really ought to change your pre-cat O2 sensors at this point. They can't get lazy after a while, and affect economy and performance without throwing a code. Truthfully, they are a 60K-75K item.

    Here's some more reading.

The longer you leave the SeaFoam in the intake the better it works. An hour or two is best.
