Hello all,
I'm a brand new member who is need of some help. First, thank you Steve for the advice on how to post a tech question; I'll be using that here in a moment.
I've owned a couple of Tahoe's and have just paid off my second this past July, an 04 Tahoe 5.3. I was fortunate to not rack up a ton of miles on it given I drove a company vehicle for the first 3 years of ownership - my Tahoe only has 63k miles and really does run great.
The reason I joined this forum was to network with fellow Chevy owners with a pension for doing repair work themselves. I've just this morning encountered my first issue which I'd like to get some advice for.
I'll ask for help here and in the general tech forum just in case.
My AC fan only blows air through the defrost vents on the top of the dash; no matter what position the control dial is in. I can change the amount of air, turn on/off the AC, Max AC and everything else is fine with that one issue of the air only blowing through the defrost vents at the base of my windshield.
I called the dealership here in Denton and was told it could be one or two things, the AC Control head $670-700; or the "Motor under the dash" $450-500 to repair.
I'd like to see if A) the diognosis is at least somewhat accurate B) if either of these is something i can attempt myself (I am not affraid to open the hood but am limited in experience). C) what kind of time commitment would I be facing if I attempted it myself.
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance and I look forward to getting to "know" my fellow Chevy owners!!

Sorry I can't really help you with your problem but welcome to the site. We did just have a 4runner in work that would only blow cold air out of the right side vents but not the left. We found out that at one time there was a mouse or something storing food in there and there were some chestnuts stuck in there that wouldn't let the door close to separate the vents. Other than that is sounds like you might have to take the dash apart a little and check it out. Maybe the door that changes the vents is stuck or unhooked.

Welcome to the site! I have a problem with the AC on my '04 also, but I don't think it is the same as yours. Good luck!
