Do you have the traditional part time system (2H, 4H, 4L) or the Autotrak (2H, 4Auto, 4H, 4L)? I'm not sure, but I believe the traditional set up simply uses DEXIII ATF. The Autotrak requires the special (and to my knowledge dealer only) blue AT2 fluid.

When changing the fluid, be sure to remove the fill plug first before draining (just in case the fill plug is seized). You want to know you'll be able to fill it before it's drained.

In that case, the only additional thing I will add is that the fill plug on my autotrak t-case (NV246) takes a 5/16" square fitting. I couldn't find one off the shelf, so I bought a cheap 3/8"-1/4" adapter and ground the 3/8" square end down to 5/16". If you find yourself in the same situation, you might consider the same approach.
