    Default Thinking about remote start?

Was thinking about getting one installed on my truck I have heard that they will only mess up your engine... Was also thinking about what the point of having one was besides looking totally awesome while you start your truck while walking to it. Also starting it accidentally could be a problem as I step on my keys allot and have the car alarm go off at 2 in the morning frequently which makes the neighbors mad

i bought my truck with a remote start already installed and i enjoy it. during winter, i can start my truck while im inside the house and let it run for about ten minutes and let it get warm. i dont know how a self-installed remote start will work though

i have it on my dodge and i loved it!as soon as i have time im going to have it pulled off and installed on my silverado.verrryy handy during the cold weather months..its been on that dodge for 9 years and caused no damage.and in the case that you did accidentally start it mine has a timer that will automatically shut it off after 10 minutes..if in the event sombody tries to hop in and take a drive it will shut off and sound the alarm..i loved it!

COMPUSTAR!! You cant accidently start it with Comp. you have to hold the start button on the fob for a couple seconds to send the signal, and my compustar can reach 3 miles away (even though its only rated for a mile) and its 4 years old, the newer ones have a longer range. While you may not need to start it from that far away, what that means is that it will go through building with alot of wires and concrete better. They have awesome customer service too. My fob for mine just recently went out so I sent in the old fob and antenna and they just sent me a brand new antenna and fob as a "warranty fix" and presto better then new for only $35 instead of the $125 it would have cost for the old one.

I live in Michigan and in the winter the remote start makes my life so much easier in the morning not having to wait for the snow and ice melt. Its a must have!!!

I bought one for my wife's GTP a couple of Christmases ago and she loves it, it takes two pushes of the button on the fob so it won't start accidentally, works from up to 1000 ft which should be far enough for most applications, but I did have it professionally installed because of the factory theft system and the installer said it was a little more involved because of all the extra electronics on her car (Tap shift, heads- up display etc.) but I would highly recommend one, I'd like to get one on the truck but I've been spending money in other area's, you know how it is!
