    Default fuel pump kill switch

    Hey guys,

    2000 yukon xl 6.0L 4x4

    I have a problem here. Trying to start the truck, cranks but doesn't fire.

    Checked the relay, its connecting. opened the gas cap, still nothing. Hooked up scanner, no codes. Probably fuel pump.

    Heres the question. Whats the special tools required to do the pump and does anyone have a breakdown? I usually take the total labor time for a trades person and double it...

    any suggestions before I start dismantleing...

    I gotta bump this, I need some help, anyone got any ideas? Im trying to avoid a $1k+ repair bill here.

    Are you sure its the pump? Did you check for pressure?

    Mu buddies fuel pump went out in his 2001. It is not very hard to do. You just have to make sure the tank is empty or it is a royal pain in the a**. If the tank is full, siphon it out so you don't make a mess or have a couple of hundred pounds of fuel land on your head.

    There are two hoses that come off from the filler neck. A couple of nuts that hold the gas tank straps, a couple of wire connections and a couple fuel line connections. The fuel line connections are a pain to take off if you do not have the right tool. Advance Auto sells them for 5-10 dollars.

    Make sure you get the right pump, my buddy was given the wrong one and had to swap it out.

    It should only take a couple of hours but my buddy and me took about 5 because we were not in hurry.

    The shop wanted to charge him $800 plus. The pump it's self is about $250 if I remember right.

    Good luck. It's not hard to do, just a pain in the arse if you don't have the right tools.
