Default weird fuel economy, 2002 chevy silverado, bowling green, ohio.

    Hello,

You will have to excuse me if my questions are signs of a newbie. I suppose I am. I have been an avid chevy silverado owner for some time, but I don't know too much about cars in general.

My issue is fuel economy. It seems like my truck gets incredibly low gas mileage. Lower than you would expect from a truck. Could there be something wrong with my fuel system? Perhaps it needs a flush or a treatment? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.

Oh and also, if you can recommend a good place to get it done here in the ohio area, or bowling green, or somewhere, let me know. I was thinking about taking it to my dealership. http://www.thayerchevrolet.com/

but if anybody knows a better place, let me know! thanks a lot.

Fuel economy depends on a LOT of issues. What are you currently getting and how do you answer these types of questions?

    - How you drive it. Fast, slow, gun it off the line every stoplight?

    - What type of traffic you drive in. Heavy traffic kills gas mileage more than anything else except racing.

    - How fast do you drive? Driving 70 MPG will cost you 20% more fuel than driving at 60 MPG. Driving at 80 will cost you even more %.

    - How much you tow/carry. Use the truck for work and have it loaded down all the time?

    - Modifications like tires and wheels?
