2010 Chevy Suburban Review - GMTruckClub.com - There aren't really any major changes coming to the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban. Of course, this is the GMT900 platform that is shared with the GMC Yukon XL and it's the big-brother (14 inches longer wheelbase and 20 inches longer overall length) than the standard Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon.
While these beasts have been beaten up quite a bit due to their high fuel consumption, if you are maxed out you actually get a very good overall MPG-Per Person. Because the 2010 Suburban can seat 9 adult passengers, plus the benefit of a true truck-chasis, you can do a lot such as take the family camping, carry all your gear and tow a trailer, a boat or whatever and drive in comfort.
The 2010 Suburban still comes with available LS, LT, and LTZ trims and either rear-wheel drive or the Autotrac four-wheel drive (4WD) which you can keep engaged on dry pavement and includes a low-range gear for off-roading.
The standard engine on the 1500 SUburban is the 310-hp 5.3-liter V8 engine with GM's Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation. (Make certain that you get the Driver Information Center so you can see your live fuel economy). There is also the availability of running on E85 ethanol-blended fuel.
The only transmission option is a 6-speed automatic.
The Suburban 2500 models come with the 352-hp 6.0-liter V8 and 6-speed automatic transmission.
Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and curtain side airbags. Blind-spot alert is available on the LTZ. Heated and cooled front seats are standard on the LTZ. There are a lot of other treats and accessories available such as a wireless cell phone link, dual-screen DVD entertainment and a backup camera (which is a must in my opinion) that displays both on the optional navigation system screen and in the rearview mirror.
What about towing? Well, the Suburban is a beast of a workhorse. You can towing 8100 lb with the 1500 Suburban and 9600 lb with the 2500 Suburban.
