    Default 12V Auxilliary Sockets

    Folks,

I've got a '03 Z71 that has been pretty much flawless since I've bought it new in '03. However, there is one nit that I've lived with and now I want to fix it...

All but one 12V Auxilliary socket (the cigarette lighter and the one on the center console) works, but the one in the way back (cargo area) and the one on the dash on the other side of the cigarette lighter does not work. I've taken them out once before (a long time ago) and got them to work temporarily only for them to stop working several days later.

Unfortunately, there were times I wish the one in the cargo area worked and I've lived with using the cigarette lighter socket. Thank goodness for the center console working because I don't what my boys would have done for entertainment...

Anyway, it is time to replace them...do any of you know what they are officially identified as and could recommend a parts dealer...or...are these something that I can only get from the dealer.

    Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the site! I've seen the "cig. lighter" at parts stores before so I'd expect it would be a pull and replace job. Other than that, try one of the site guys: "GMpartsclub.com". They seem to have some real good prices. Good luck!

Is this a common problem because I just noticed the one in my cargo area doesn't work either.

I have not seen that many posts on the topic, so I don't think it isi common. But, one of mine isn't working either. Good luck!

Thanks retired2001 for the GMpartclub.com tip....

It turns out what I'm looking for is the Power Outlet Receptical (seem pretty obvious now)...I found it under Console, Front...

Anyway, I'll try a couple and let you know how it works...since I can't believe that this was an isolated case with my vehicle only having 66% of the outlets not working, I hope they changed the design...otherwise, I may end up having them go back quickly again...

    Thanks Again!
