WELL We took the Suburban to the mechanic. Turns out one of the gears in the differential had broken into 3 pieces. That cause a tooth on another main gear to break off. Good thing we were not driving the thing more ... it kept the damage from getting TOO massive.

BAD thing though is that the dadgum speedometer now will all of a sudden register 40+ miles/hour OVER the actual speed. We had to restart the thing 10+ times to get the needle reset to 0. The oil pressure gauge is MAXED out too ... Point at the oil can maxed out. I do believe that the gauge for that system is misreading too, but can one really trust that? That gauge would NOT reset. What's up with this vehical? It's only an 04!

Chevy has had to replace a lot of instrument clusters. Mine is doing the same thing and the dealership will cover it to 70,000 miles. They are doing mine on Monday (the encoder motor for the 4wd too).
