    Default 89 suburban speakers

Greetings All, I was wondering what the options are for replacing the factory speakers, front and back. It looks like the door opening is blocked by the storage pocket, the kick panel looks like an option. I see they sell kickpanels with speaker mounts built in, for big bucks. How do the 6x9's fit into the rear spaces, do they look good when installed? Thanks......

6x9 are a dying breed (I believe there are four of them in the old burbs), go with 6 3/4" in there place a much better sound and will look a whole lot better as well!! A 6 3/4" can easily fit into a 6x9 whole too, you just need a thin wood "plate", mount the 6 3/4 inch into that then put that in the door and then the cover over it. I have a 4x10 that goes in the rear of my suburban and hve 5 1/2 inch speakers in there, if you want a pic of what I am speaking of I can get you a couple.

yeah, stay away from 6x9's. They are an old speaker design that is having no new technology going into them. All new manufacturers are using circular and square designs. Go with 6 3/4' speakers to replace the 6x9's, then just replace the others with new ones of the same size.

if you want it simple and sound quality isnt a major issue, yea a decent 6.5" two-way speaker will be good all around....if you have the bucks and your ears demand more....get components. good luck! 6.5's will fit in the doors...however mounting depth can be somewhat limited depending on placement...and baffle seal to keep moisture and all the other **** away from the motor structure.
that rug really tied the room together, man.
