    Default s10 bogging down in first and 2nd gear

    i have a 98 s10 5 speed and everytime i go to take off hard when racing it boggs down in first gear rlly bad, 2nd gear is the same but i rarely does it anymore since i cleaned my ram air. any ideas wats up with 1st gear?
    1998 Chevy s10
    4.3 liter v6, 5 speed
    AirRaid short ram
    Throttle body spacer

    have you performed any maintenance to your truck yet?

    Fuel Filter
    Plugs/wires/cap & rotor

    Any recent modifications?

    Check engine light on?

    yeah my check light is on and i have put on a bran new fuel pump and fuel filter, i bought new plugs bought a month ago. not wires and cams and rotor.

    you should probably have the codes read then. Might lead to the problem

    You said "cleaned my ram air"-do you mean you cleaned the air filter?? If it is an oiled filter some of them have caused problems with the mass air sensor-the sensor that tells your electronic control unit how much air you have coming in , so it can tell your fuel injection how much fuel to spray out to match that air.

    K&N had this problem years ago, that is why they now oil them at the factory, so they aren't over oiled.

    Find out what the codes are-they will tell you the answer. O2 sensors can also cause problems, but usually they just cause poor FE since your vehicle just uses some fixed map to decide how much fuel to spray in when the O2 sensors are dead.

    yeah ram air is air filter, since its not cold air. and ya i might jsut buy a brand new cold air and see wat that does to seee if thats the problem.
