I know its beating a dead horse again, but it is a tough decision. Which is the better unit? Hypertech Max Energy or the DiabloSport Predator? What are the differences? They are priced within $10 of eachother, so money isnt the deciding factor...HELP!!!
My truck is a 2007 Yukon XL 2500 w/6.0. I have a K&N cold air intake on the way, but would like to get better MPG (getting about 11 now). I also tow a #8000 camper once a month in the summer. Needless to say the speed limiter must also go...Thanks in advance o-wise ones!
OooohhK...no advise? I just ordered the Hypertech because I didnt want to pay an extra $40 for the computer cables (hello Diablo????)
should be fine with the hypertech.

I have the Hypertech on my Jimmy and have noticed a big difference, but they don't make a programmer for the 6.2L yet so I may have to go with either a Diablo or The Edge, not sure yet...

the diablo predator offers the best performance gains, and most adjustability, hands down!
get a diablo predator...

Does the Diablo offer transmission tuning for the 07s yet?
First off I am pretty sure that 06MonteSS works for Diablosport or has some kind of tie to the company (shame on you, that's cheating).
Secondly I know a lot about this topic. I have been selling used programmers on ebay for the past few years and recently started my own website . I also used to be a mechanic and have a 99 Grand Prix GTP which I custom tuned to run on E85 with just about every bolt on mod you can throw at it so I know a lot about tuning. I currently have a 99 Silverado 4.8 and guess what I use--the Predator. Personally I think the tuning between the 2 of them is the exact same (as far as you will ever notice at least) so if you are just going to use it to do the premade tune and then you are going to put it away, get whichever one you think is prettier. However, if you ever want to do some diagnostic work on your truck or maybe do a little custom tuning, the only programmer that will work for you is the Predator. With the Hyptech you can view and clear DTC's and that is the extent of it's other features.
On my silverado I put on a Jet Mass airflow sensor and I removed my cats. With the predator I was able to disable the code for the post cat O2 sensor so the check engine light never comes on(the Hypertech can only clear the code but the light will continue to show up on every 3rd drive cycle). Also, because of the modified MAF, my engine was getting way more air than it thought it was and my fuel trims were getting maxed out causing a lean condition. With the predator I was able to modify my fueling to get it back to spec so that I could safely run the MAF. A lot of people are against getting an aftermarket MAF and the reason is because it will usually cause a lean condition, but with the predator you can safely run it.
As far as the diagnostics I'm talking about, let's say you have a check engine light on and it is throwing a code for a lean condition. The Hypertech, all you can do is view it, clear it, and take it to your mechanic. The diablosport can display your fuel trims for you. You see it is maxed out at +25%, then you look around the engine bay and you notice a slightly cracked vacuum hose so you replace the hose. Then you can look at your predator and see that your fuel trims are now at +3%. Well, now you know that it is fixed for sure and you can clear the code and go on with your merry life knowing that you saved yourself a $100 trip to the shop.

Your PCM is still reading the MAF wrong, as the MAF is reporting incorrectly to the computer itself.
Iincreasing fuel via injector scaling is the wrong way of doing things and does not address the fact that the PCM "thinks" that there is significantly less air entering the engine than actually is. Especially since air mass calculation is used for quite a few different things, it is important that it is accurate.

correct ^ ^ ^ ^
no need to run an aftermarket MAF... it sends false data to the ecm to lean things out to give you the sense of having more power, but then as you discovered, it throws codes, and throws off the fueling for the rest of the tune setup... it's a bad idea and messes up the tuning... and the stock MAF is good for 500-600 hp anyway, so there's no need to use an aftermarket one, it doesn't really gain you anything except tuning headaches...
and yes, I'm a consultant for diablosport... but it's not "cheating"... I merely state my opinions and FACTS about things just like everyone else does... I have used the diablo products for YEARS before i began doing support work for them this year, so I have first-hand experience and knowledge of the predator/trinity products, inside and out...
and as soon as the sponsor/vendor arrangement goes through, my user info will correctly reflect that I am a vendor/sponsor here...
And like you said yourself - "if you ever want to do some diagnostic work on your truck or maybe do a little custom tuning, the only programmer that will work for you is the Predator." Now, if I said that, would that be "cheating"??? hahahah, I think not... merely stating facts...
and not only can you customize the tune yourself with all of the adjustable parameters that are available through the predator, but you can also get true custom tunes by a diablo CMR tuner created specifically for YOUR vehicle, and get even better performance.
