    Default temp sending unit

I have a 99 suburban with the 5.7. My tep. gage is not working does not even move. I replaced the sending unit on the drivers side head and still nothing. I noticed there was also a sensor at the goose neck. What does this one control? Could it be just the gage??

I think the sensor on the head is for the PCM. If it were bad you would have a temperature trouble code stored in memory. When you say goose neck do you mean the thermostat housing? Anyway try grounding the sender on the intake manifold and see if the gauge goes to Hot.
