Chevrolet Equinox reliability - better info

I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now reports absolute repair rates that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to report on new models quickly then to track cars closely as they age.

We already provide some reliability stats on the Equinox and Torrent, but would like to cover all years, especially the new 2010 Equinox and Terrain. For this, we need more participants. So I'm grateful that the owner of this forum has given me permission to post here. We're linking back from our results pages for the Equinox.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Equinox, Torrent, and Terrain, free of charge.

We recently updated results for a couple years of the first-gen Equinox based on owner experience through the end of September 30, 2009. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006: 81, about average (blip at the end of the warrranty?)

2005: 56, better than average

These results are based on small sample sizes, so are asterisked and only visible to members on the site:

2010: 94, worse than average, not the best start

2006: 94, about average

2005: 96, about average

Small sample sizes for the 2005 and 2006.

We now have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.

In the case of the 2010 Equinox and Terrain, the percentage with no repairs is about 68, and the percentage of lemons is less than one.
