Tahoe and Yukon reliability - better info

I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now reports absolute repair rates that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to report on new models quickly then to track cars closely as they age.

We already provide some reliability stats on the Tahoe and Yukon, but would like to cover all years from 1995 on. For this, we need more participants. So I'm grateful that the owner of this forum has given me permission to post here. We're linking back from our results pages for the the Tahoe and Yukon.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Tahoe and Yukon, for free.

We've updated the results for the Tahoe, Yukon, and Suburban to include owner experiences through September 30, 2009. In terms of successful repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2007: 58, about average

2005: 59, about average

2004: 53, better than average

2003: 124, about average

2002: 22, much better than average, does not appear accurate.

We only had a sufficient sample size for the 2003 and 2007, so those stats are the most accurate. The others are asterisked and only visible to members on the site itself.

Everyone who has been helping, thanks, I appreciate it. We'll have further updates in February and May. If you haven't already signed up to participate, I hope you will. With more participants we could provide full results for all model years from 1995 on.

509 owners signed up so far for GM's large SUVs. A very good start, but more remain needed to provide precise results for all years from 1995 on.

2008: 76, about average

2007: 69, about average

2005: 60, about average

2004: 81, about average

2003: 125, worse than average

2002: 30, much better than average

Results for 2002 and 2003 do not appear to be accurate.
