hey hows it going? i rescently aquired a 1975 Suburban 1/2 ton 2wd 7.4l (454cid) i planned on taking out the 454 and boring it .060" over and stroking it .250" (496 stroker) then throwing that in my 66 amc rambler 770 classic (look it up they are cute) but i figured. well it runs so why not drive the suburban for awhile till i have more time and money for a crazy project like that. so far its good the suburban had been sitting since 1999, i threw in a new battery turned over wouldnt start. took out spark plugs which looked brand new. re-gapped them, fired right up. discovered it has a VERY MEAN cam in it. toyed with the idle a bit. just have to time it now. found a nasty big puddle of fuel under it, replaced the absolutely rotted fuel line. then test drove it. power steering seems to be well. gone...i had to man handle the steering wheel to get the beast to turn. throttle is a bit sticky. so before i drive it again im going to put all new belts on it, take out the a/c (i know im in arizona with 118 degree weather im insane) its just bulky. eww. im going to replace all the fluids take a nice long looksey at the powersteering pump and motor. and find the reason my battery is being drained. the two wires to the alternator were crossed so it wouldnt shut off, well it would but with a nice long sputter. so i fixed that but after that it started dying so im sure i did it all wrong. im having a wiring buddy look at it. but anywho thats a lil about my progress on my gorgous little suburban.
heres a tad about me, im 18, my passion in life is the automotive industry in general, i want to go to school to be a machinist, then open a shop for machining/performance/repair & tune up. all in one it will be amazing. i have worked on quite a few cars including hondas, dodge trucks, volkswagen beetles (74 and 72) few different chevys, go-karts, mod lites, dwarf cars, DSR, indy pro series cars, star mazda, and the car juan pablo montoya won the indy 500 in. (race cars apply to my fathers profession, i see none of the money he lives in different city so i just get a tad experiance and bragging rights) i love photography camping and such and im very very open minded about life in general especially the automotive and performance automotive industries. i try to find the potential in every vehicle.
