Ok, every once in a while my SES light will come on. But by the time I'm headed to the Parts store to get the code read it goes out. It just recently happened 2 days ago, it came on in the morning on the way to work. Wasn't able to get to the parts store that night so I figured I would go yesterday after work. Well on the way to get it checked it just goes out. Also when I do get it checked even if it goes out they say there is no code set, and I ask about any codes saved and he says none. What in he world is going on??? Is this just a case of I need to go to get it checked as soon as it comes on?

OK here's the deal. When your Check Engine light comes on a code is stored in memory. If it's a hard code the Check Engine Light will usually stay on but not always. In any event the parts store code reader will only see OBDII Generic Codes. So the chances are the code in your truck is a manufacturer specific code. My advice would be to have your truck scanned at a shop that has a scanner that can read manufacturer specific codes. Most shops have this type of scanner rather than a generic code reader.
