I have a 08 ls wt with power windows and locks no key less entry tho. Well I wanted to add a remote start and key less entry to the truck and the dealership is telling me that I cant do this is that true or not. Also i am looking for a stock set of fog lights and a harness if anyone has any would you please pm me and let me know what you would take.

Hi, well I can only tell you bout my particular situation but, I was able to get a really nice keyless two-way autostart. It locks/unlocks arms/disarms all from a mile, line of sight. I have a 2006 Silverado LS with most of the LT features, but without the keyless entry but I was able to have it installed. There might be something about the WT or 08's but I would imagine you should be able to install one no problem. My autostart is the AstroStart® RSS-5224. Its really nice. I hope that helps some.

Compustar!! Quite possibly the best costumer service I have had to deal with, even better then Crutchfield!!

As long as there is a "power" option (meaning not just a lever, like for a trunk release) it can be used on an aftermarket remote start/keyless entry.

My honest opinion about remote start is it causes headaches down the road, and the dealership knows this because they deal with these problems on a daily basis. I work with a guy that had one installed from the GM dealer about 2 months ago, and now he is having all kinds of problems with it and he wished that he never would have had it done. He has an 09' 2500HD dually with power everything, so I think If It was me I would pass on that but it's your truck.

We have had a Cavalier, a 2001 Blazer, and my S-10 used to have it and all of them malfunctioned after about 2 years and they were all installed at the dealership. My S-0 was so bad it would eat through a battery after about 3 months, the dealer went through it until they were blue in the face and still found nothing. Well my dad had enough of that after the third time up there, so he took out a set of wire snips and cut the wires to the remote start right in front of the service manager. At least I don't have the problem's any more, so I lost out on an $800 system but it's worth it not having to worry about it not starting at 1:00 in the morning when I come out from work.

Common theme there Amy, they were from the dealership, same reason my dads NBS07 has had problems. They just arent as advanced on some of them as aftermerket comapanies are. I have had mine for almost five years, and not a problem other then I broke the remote and Compustar replaced it for almost free. i also live in MN so it gets used a plenty in the winters.

I was always too afraid to install one myself, I took one look at the instructions and was like "hell no!" I just figured the Chevy dealer should be a step above the rest, but apparently they are not for this type of stuff. I have to admit it was nice when it lasted on my S-10, but in the end it wasn't worth the headaches.
